Winter is creeping in...

Good afternoon,

There's so much to be thankful and happy about on such a sunny beautiful day as today! This morning I walked outside to a frost covering the ground and my car, and was not annoyed by the fact I had to get ice scraper out because I know that winter is right around the corner and I love it! What I mean by winter is coming, is snowfall because then we can ski, snowboard, snowshoe, tube, ice skate, snowmobile, cross country ski, or anything else you crazy Mainers might be into!

I have been following Sugarloaf and Sunday River's reports and they have been doing around the clock snow making as temperatures have dipping down into the teens and single digits up in the mountains.
If you have not gotten your pass to the mountains or maybe have the privilege to get the ski Maine pass go get one!!
The Ski Maine pass gets you access to all of the ski mountains in the state of Maine and tubing parks. For more information read about the pass and all the mountain updates on their website.
http://skimaine.com/

Now that it is cold enough in southern Maine we will be operating our snowguns at night as long into the days we can until opening day! Go online now and purchase your own season pass to Seacoast Snow Park Online before 11/25 for 50$ and get to tube all season for a great deal!
http://seacoastfunparks.com/
Countdown: 42 days until Seacoast Snow Park Opens!

I hope everyone has a wonderful thanksgiving spent with your family, lots of food, and of course football!

IAPPA SHOW!!

Hello Everyone,

Today is Saturday which means this is last day of what we like to call our "business vacation" down here in Orlando, Florida.
We are in the sunshine state because we attended the 2012 IAPPA show which stands for : The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions.
The IAPPA show is like nothing I have ever experienced before...in this one show is anything you could ever imagine going into an amusement business; from designers, to rides, to toys, to games, to water slide companies...over 5000 different businesses in this one building! I think you can catch my drift about this so I won't bore you!
But, there was so much to take in...it was like walking around NYC...with all the lights and people and food samples (haha) it was awesome!

To get some more information about IAPPA visit: http://www.iaapa.org/ and http://behindthethrills.com/2012/11/iaapa-latest-and-greatest-in-the-amusement-industry/

This opportunity to go to this event really opened my eyes to the amusement business, as I walked the isles with Universal and Disney head buyers for creative development or maybe the owners of Whales Tail, or the people that make our flags, and birthday party supplies. One of the people I did get to meet was the guy who is designing our new Lazy River!!! sshhhh dont tell anyone :p

These are a few photos from the show: including my badge I wore everyday, a ride (indoors) that I went on (Moser Rides), a new Seaworld ride that it still being built, and a view (from up in a pirate ship) of the show floor illustrating just a few of the thousands of vendors.

These are a few photos from our IAPPA social night at Universal Studios. This was a private event set up just for IAPPA memebers that distributed free drinks, food, and desserts. Best of all they opened up some of their major attractions like MIB, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Roller Coaster, Shrek 3d and more! One of the most memorable experiences of this night was a show put on over the water with projection screen, lasers, lights, water, and fireworks celebrating 100 years of Universal Films....needless to say it was epic.

I am sure I could tell you about this show for hours on end as it has really left a huge impact on me but I will save more details for another day!
Check out http://www.universalorlando.com/ for more information about some of the amazing rides they have there and about celebrating their 100 years of Movies!

Have a great weekend!!

Goooood Morning Everyone!

Happy Tuesday morning everyone,

Today is a dreary but warm day outside...not feeling quite like winter anymore at 60 degrees!
But in case you still have that winter fever come out to Rivalries in Portland tonight to watch a back country ski movie premiere sponsored by Ski Maine.

The door open at 7pm and the movie starts at 730, tickets are sold at the door for $10 but there's only a select number available so make sure to get there when the doors open!

We hope to see you tonight supporting a local business and Ski Maine who supports us (Seacoast Snow Park) and all of the ski mountains in Maine.

If you can find the "Seacoast Girls" you might be able to score a free pass to the snow park for this winter!!

Have a great day everyone!

The new place to find out fun recreational events in maine

Hello everyone!!

Welcome to the new destination for information on fun outdoor things to do in Maine during all of our seasons.

We will keep you updated on our events (at seacoast) and mountain condition reports and give you testimonials from personal experiences.

Today is November 10th and as the fall is coming to a close, winter is slowly approaching!
Sunday River and Sugarloaf are both now open, with the recent cold temps they were able to make a ton of snow!
You can check out their mountain conditions at:
http://www.sugarloaf.com/themountain/dailyreport/index.html
http://www.sundayriver.com/TheMountain/MountainReport/index.asp

These cold temps have inspired us and we have started to learn how to use our newest snow gun (very exciting stuff) and will be able to make better snow more efficiently!

I know all of you outdoor enthusiasts were excited about our recent snowfall that covered most of Maine this week with a few a magical, white inches...but sad to see it all disappear after all the rain so, no cross country skiing for awhile!

This weekend is looking to be sunny and beautiful so get outside! Maybe go for a walk on the beach, go for a hike at Tumbledown Mountain, a bike ride through the woods, or maybe a run around the boulevard in Portland.

Have a great Friday everyone!
